Why US-China Trade War Matters–An Interdisciplinary Discussion with Scholars and Students

Trade war is ongoing between the world’s two largest economies. For over a year, we have been seeing escalating tension in China-United States economic and political relations as both sides take turns to attack and counterattack. However, as the issue is complex and understanding involves expertise of various areas, the trade war leaves us students with many questions.
Why did it occur? How does the trade war affects us? What are the implications? Was there any political motives? How does China’s history, institution and culture play a role in crafting its foreign policies and responses in the trade war? What is the bigger picture?

This fall, HUA Dialogue presents its October special event co-sponsored by the Centre for Chinese Research (CCR), inviting Dr.Timothy Cheek and scholars to decipher together the issue of the trade war in the historical, economic and political context with students. See you at night on Oct 28th in Asian Centre Auditorium.

*The event is FREE and dinner and drinks will be provided.
**We encourage you to use the language you are most comfortable with. We will provide translation in the event.
